A Qualer alternative for teams outside life sciences
Qualer is now MasterControl Asset Excellence, and its focus has narrowed to life sciences. Gaugelog is self-serve calibration management for ISO 9001 manufacturers, priced openly per gauge.
The short version
Qualer was acquired by MasterControl, announced 3 March 2025, and is now sold as MasterControl Asset Excellence. The public pricing page is gone; buying starts with contact sales, and the positioning has narrowed to life sciences. If you are a life-science company, that focus is good news, and staying is reasonable. If you are not a life-science company, you are no longer who this product is for. Gaugelog is self-serve, priced openly, and built for ISO 9001 manufacturers: register, due dates, records, certificates and audit evidence, priced per gauge with unlimited users. It does not have Qualer's customer portal for calibration service providers. Details checked 7 July 2026.

What happened to Qualer, plainly
MasterControl announced the acquisition of Qualer on 3 March 2025. The product was renamed MasterControl Asset Excellence, the public pricing page was replaced by a contact-sales flow, and the marketing now leads with life sciences. Acquisitions refocus products; that is what they are for. The practical question is whether the new focus still includes you.
Open pricing, self-serve
Gaugelog's prices are on the pricing page: per gauge, never per seat, free up to 30 gauges and paid plans from $49 to $379 per month billed annually. You sign up, import your spreadsheet and upgrade in place when the register grows. No demo call, no quote cycle, no hidden fees. Ever.
An honest segment split
Qualer's customer portal for calibration service providers is a real strength, and Gaugelog does not have one. Gaugelog is built for manufacturers tracking their own instruments under ISO 9001 clause 7.1.5: the register, the due dates, the records and the audit pack. If you run a commercial calibration lab serving customers, Gaugelog is the wrong tool, and this page says so.
When Qualer is the better choice
- You are a life-science company with FDA requirements. MasterControl's whole point is that world, including 21 CFR Part 11 work Gaugelog is not built for.
- You run a commercial calibration lab and need a customer portal and service billing. Qualer built that; Gaugelog has not.
- You need deep metrology features such as uncertainty handling and MET/CAL integration. Gaugelog does not calculate measurement uncertainty.
What Gaugelog doesn’t do
- No customer portal for calibration service providers, and no service billing.
- No measurement uncertainty calculations. If you run an ISO 17025 lab, you need more math than we do.
- No on-premises install. Gaugelog is cloud only, hosted in the EU, with full export on every plan: cancel anytime, export everything.
What your auditor sees
Overdue gauges are the first thing an auditor checks. When they ask, you answer with documents, not promises. Both samples below are generated by Gaugelog from fictional data.
Getting your data out
If you can export your asset list from Qualer to Excel or CSV, the importer reads it as it is. The mapper reads your column headers and suggests a mapping. You confirm it. Columns like last calibrated and next due come along, and sheets with one row per past calibration import as history.
Questions, straight answers
What happened to Qualer?
MasterControl, a quality-management-software vendor, acquired Qualer in a deal announced on 3 March 2025. The product is now sold as MasterControl Asset Excellence, the public pricing page has been replaced by a contact-sales flow, and the positioning has narrowed toward life-science companies. Details checked 7 July 2026.
Is Gaugelog a replacement for Qualer or MasterControl Asset Excellence?
For the core calibration job in an ISO 9001 manufacturer, yes: instrument register, calibration records with as-found and as-left results, escalating due-date reminders, certificate PDFs and an exportable audit pack. For life-science compliance work or for running a commercial calibration lab, no: Gaugelog has no 21 CFR Part 11 signatures and no customer portal.
Does Gaugelog have a customer portal for calibration providers?
No. Qualer built a strong portal for calibration service providers and their customers, and Gaugelog does not have one. If you run a commercial calibration lab, that portal may matter more than anything else on this page.
Can I import my Qualer data?
If you can export your asset list to Excel or CSV, the importer reads it. No template to fill in first: the mapper reads your column headers, you confirm the mapping, and history rows import as calibration records.
Weighing your options before the audit?
Gaugelog is in development and launches in 2026. Until then you can generate a clean calibration certificate PDF with our free tool, no account needed, and compare the plans on the pricing page.
